Main Square of Cusco
The nucleus or point of greater importance in the city of Cusco is its Plaza de Armas (formerly known as the Plaza del Guerrero).
According to various historians, it was a swamp that the Incas dried up and turned into religious and administrative center of the empire; There the Incas built palaces and temples of great importance.
After the conquest of the Spaniards, churches and houses were built to take a form similar to what it looks like today. There, important historical events took place, such as the execution of Tupac Amaru II, a Peruvian martyr.
Currently there are clothing, crafts, jewelry and restaurants around.
It is located only 5 blocks from our hotel, at the end of the main avenue of Cusco, Av. El Sol.
